Aston Villa are reportedly set to compete with Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign 24-year-old French midfielder Khephren Thuram from Juventus this summer.
According to a report from Italian outlet Tuttosport, all three Premier League clubs are monitoring Thuram ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Each side is searching for a versatile midfielder and has identified the Juventus star as a potential target. However, the Serie A club are already working to secure his future by negotiating a new contract that would raise his salary from €2.4 million to around €3.8-4 million per year.
Thuram’s time at Juventus
Khephren Thuram’s spell at Juventus has been somewhat mixed since he joined from OGC Nice in July 2024. Although he was born in Reggio Emilia, the French international developed his game in France and came through the youth ranks at AS Monaco before establishing himself at Nice.
Since arriving in Turin, the 24-year-old has not always been a guaranteed starter but has still featured regularly, making close to 100 appearances and contributing seven goals and 12 assists. Despite the inconsistency in his role, Thuram continues to attract strong interest from clubs across Europe.
Premier League clubs monitoring situation
Aston Villa could look to strengthen their midfield in the summer, particularly with uncertainty surrounding Douglas Luiz’s future and Ross Barkley’s long-term role at Villa Park. As a result, Thuram has emerged as a possible option for the Midlands club.
Liverpool have also been linked with the Frenchman for some time. The Reds are keen to add depth and versatility in midfield, especially with questions over Wataru Endo’s long-term future, making Thuram one of several players under consideration.
Manchester United are another club assessing their midfield options. Casemiro is expected to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires this summer, while Manuel Ugarte has struggled to impress since his move from Paris Saint-Germain 18 months ago. That situation has led the Red Devils to explore potential reinforcements, with Thuram among the players on their radar.
However, completing a deal for the 24-year-old may prove difficult. Juventus are keen to keep him and are currently negotiating a new contract that would significantly increase his wages. The outcome of those talks could play a major role in determining Thuram’s future.
