Unai Emery urges Aston Villa to pursue Brahim Diaz

Aston Villa are showing strong interest in Real Madrid forward Brahim Díaz, with Unai Emery reportedly driving the club’s efforts to land the Spanish-born attacker.

Villa are keen to add more quality to their squad during the current transfer window, and Emery is believed to be targeting another high-profile forward to help push the club to the next level. The Villa boss is eager to compete for major honours in the future and feels that a player of Diaz’s calibre could significantly boost his side.

According to a report from Fichajes, Emery is pushing Aston Villa to make a move for the Moroccan international, who impressed at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations. With Diaz struggling for consistent game time at Real Madrid, Villa see an opportunity to tempt him away from the Spanish giants.

Diaz originally arrived at Real Madrid in 2019 but spent time out on loan before earning a more sustained role in the first team. After an excellent two-season spell with AC Milan, Carlo Ancelotti reintegrated him into the squad and made him an important option.

Although he was rarely a guaranteed starter, Diaz regularly featured and often made an impact when called upon. That situation has shifted this season, with the attacker failing to secure a key role under Xabi Alonso, and his return from AFCON has not altered his standing.

Despite being under contract at the Bernabéu until the summer of 2027, Diaz is now giving serious thought to his future. The Moroccan international may look to join a club where he can play a more central role.

Aston Villa step up interest in Diaz
His representatives are already exploring options, and Aston Villa have emerged as a potential destination. The Midlands club are understood to be very keen on completing a deal during this window following a direct request from Emery, and formal enquiries have already been made to assess his availability.

Villa are aware that Real Madrid are not under pressure to sell, which could complicate negotiations. However, a transfer cannot be entirely dismissed, as Madrid would be open to letting Diaz leave for the right fee.

Reports suggest Los Blancos are seeking around €60m to approve his exit. With bids from London-based clubs already nearing €52m, Aston Villa face a challenging task. Still, if they are prepared to meet Madrid’s valuation, a move could yet gather momentum.
