PFA steps in over Chelsea’s handling of ex-Villa loanee

Axel Disasi stayed at Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day despite interest.

The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) has entered talks with Chelsea about how the club has dealt with Axel Disasi.
The French defender, who spent the latter part of last season on loan with Aston Villa, was expected to leave this summer but a move never materialised.

Raheem Sterling has also been told by new boss Enzo Maresca that he has no role in his plans. Both men have been removed from Chelsea’s first-team group and are training separately.

Reports suggest the PFA has raised concerns about the treatment of Disasi and Sterling, with neither likely to play before the January window. The union is pushing to make sure both still have a proper training environment.

Earlier this month, Maresca dismissed the idea of a recall for the pair, replying simply: “With us? No.”
FIFA rules are clear on isolating players, particularly if it could be seen as abusive behaviour from a club. Under such conditions, a player may even seek to end their contract on grounds of “just cause.”

Disasi and Sterling are understood to have been allocated fixed training slots and provided with a coach at Cobham.
