Aston Villa are pursuing a late deal for Barcelona full-back Hector Fort, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Midlands club have reportedly made contact to learn more about the 19-year-old’s availability, with Fort potentially leaving the Nou Camp before the September 1 transfer deadline after a reported dispute with head coach Hansi Flick.
Preliminary discussions are said to be ongoing between the clubs over a possible agreement, as Villa prepare for a busy end to the window amid multiple exits.
Unai Emery’s side have agreed to sell midfielder Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United in a £40m deal and are negotiating Leon Bailey’s loan move to Roma.

Romano revealed via X that Villa have initiated contact over Fort, with conversations continuing between both parties.
Fort, who debuted for Barcelona’s senior team in December 2023, played 20 matches across all competitions under Flick last season, starting five times.
The highly rated defender often filled in for regular right-back Jules Kounde, but Barcelona are now open to selling as they face player registration issues and aim to move on several first-team members before the deadline.
Villa have recent experience in the Spanish market, having signed right-back Andres Garcia from Levante in January on a long-term contract.
The 22-year-old featured in 10 matches during his first half-season at Villa Park, starting five in the Premier League.
So far, Villa’s summer recruitment has been limited, with goalkeeper Marco Bizot and striker Evann Guessand the only significant senior additions. Emery’s men begin their Premier League season at home to Newcastle on Saturday.
