Champions League Goalkeeper Speaks Out After Completing Aston Villa Move

Aston Villa’s latest signing, Marco Bizot, has opened up about his transfer from France, expressing his excitement after joining the Premier League club.

The Dutch international goalkeeper arrived from Stade Brestois on Tuesday, penning a two-year deal with Unai Emery’s side. He becomes the latest addition to a Villa squad preparing for Champions League football next season.

Bizot featured in 41 matches for Brest last campaign, helping them to a ninth-place finish in Ligue 1 and keeping 12 clean sheets. He also played in nine Champions League fixtures, reaching the knockout stage before a heavy defeat to eventual champions PSG.

In his first interview with Villa TV, Bizot shared his thoughts on the move.

“It feels incredible,” he said. “I’m honestly blown away by how professional everything is here. Everyone has been amazing. It’s a big club, and I feel honoured to be part of it.

“The way the club approached me over the past weeks really impressed me. It was the best communication I’ve had in my career, and that made the decision simple.”

The 33-year-old will now compete with World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez for the number one spot.

“It’s not easy to add something extra to a squad like this,” Bizot admitted. “But I bring experience, I’ve played in several countries and many games. I want to support the younger players and be a positive presence for the whole goalkeeper group.

“I’ll give everything for the club, on and off the pitch. I’m a hard worker, I stay grounded, and I enjoy being around people. I just want to help wherever I can.”

Bizot says he’s ready to get started and contribute to Aston Villa’s next chapter.
