Aston Villa confirm 13-player release as two senior stars depart

The latest from Villa Park as multiple players, including experienced first-teamers, are set to leave this summer.

Aston Villa have announced the list of players set to leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of the month—highlighted by the departure of two seasoned professionals.

Per the Premier League’s official website, nine players will become free agents, among them centre-back Kortney Hause and goalkeeper Robin Olsen, along with seven academy players who are also set to exit.

Those moving on include Todd Alcock, Mikell Barnes, Ajani Burchall, Charlie Lutz, Kobei Moore, Kyrie Pierre, and Rico Richards. All are young talents who have spent time developing in Villa’s academy.

Additionally, Max Asante-Boakye, Alexander Hammond, Max Lott, and Nile Timson are confirmed to be leaving the club following the end of their youth contracts.

Of all those departing, Olsen and Hause stand out due to their experience with the first team. Olsen has been a Villa player since joining from Roma in 2022, initially on loan before making the move permanent. He served as backup to Emi Martinez and made 22 appearances across all competitions, five of which came this season. He featured off the bench against Manchester United in the final game and is now expected to return to Sweden, with Malmo linked.

Hause joined Villa in January 2019 on loan from Wolves before making his switch permanent later that year. He contributed during their Premier League promotion campaign but remained a squad player, with just 10 appearances in his second season.

A loan to Watford in 2022 was disrupted by injuries, and he did not feature for Villa’s senior side again until April 2025, when he played for the U21s. The 29-year-old leaves Villa as a free agent, having made 55 appearances in total.
