Aston Villa are once again being linked with Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, who could be made available this summer for around €50 million (£42m), as the Spanish giants are reportedly open to offers.
The 25-year-old striker is enjoying the most productive season of his career, scoring 19 goals and supplying seven assists for Barça, with a few games still to be played. Torres, who previously had a stint in England with Manchester City, has impressed despite limited starts.
Barcelona recently lifted the Copa del Rey, with Torres scoring in their 3-2 final win over Real Madrid, and also clinched the La Liga title last weekend. Although Torres missed the title-deciding match due to appendicitis, he contributed a hat-trick of assists in his previous league outing—again against Real Madrid—and also netted in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-final first leg.
Despite his strong numbers, Torres has struggled for consistent starts under Hansi Flick, featuring in the starting XI just 19 times across 45 appearances. He has often found himself behind Raphinha, Lamine Yamal, and Robert Lewandowski in the pecking order.
Barcelona have also been linked with a potential move for Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa. Should the Spanish side move forward with a bid for the Manchester United forward, Torres may be allowed to depart for the aforementioned fee.
Villa, who have tracked Torres during Unai Emery’s time in charge—similar to their long-standing interest in players like Joao Felix and Marco Asensio—may revive their pursuit this summer, especially with Torres having just two years left on his Camp Nou contract.
