Newcastle and Aston Villa Eye Jack Grealish as Manchester City Consider Summer Overhaul

Jack Grealish could be on the move again this summer, with both Newcastle United and Aston Villa reportedly interested in signing the Manchester City winger. With his future at the Etihad in question, the 29-year-old England international may find himself at the center of another major transfer saga.

Grealish famously left his boyhood club Aston Villa in 2021 to join Manchester City in a record-breaking £100 million transfer. At the time, it was the most expensive deal in Premier League history, placing him ahead of big-money names like Gareth Bale and Harry Maguire. Since then, he has added a Champions League title, multiple Premier League crowns, and several domestic and international trophies to his collection. Yet despite the silverware, Grealish has struggled to fully replicate the form that made him a star at Villa Park.

During his time with City, Grealish has contributed 17 goals and 23 assists in 155 appearances across all competitions. His output in the current Premier League season has been underwhelming—just one goal and one assist in 19 games—far removed from his final year at Villa, where he notched six goals and ten assists in just 26 league appearances.

Manchester City’s dip in form this season has added to the uncertainty, with the club currently outside the top four after four straight title wins. Reports suggest that the club may be open to selling Grealish as part of a broader squad overhaul, especially with younger targets potentially on the radar.

A return to Aston Villa would be a dramatic twist in Grealish’s career. Since his departure, Villa have made significant progress, reaching the semi-finals of the Conference League, finishing fourth in the league, advancing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and pushing for FA Cup glory. With Champions League football a strong possibility next season, the Birmingham-based club could offer Grealish both familiarity and a competitive platform.

However, Newcastle United are reportedly preparing to make their own approach. The Magpies are closely monitoring the situation, and although they already boast attacking options like Harvey Barnes and Anthony Gordon on the left flank, Grealish’s versatility and creativity through the middle could bring added depth—particularly if the club qualifies for European competition.

Under contract with City until 2027, Grealish’s value is expected to be considerably lower than his original £100 million price tag. A move this summer could also revive his chances of returning to the England squad, especially with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon.

With the transfer window approaching, Jack Grealish’s next step is set to become one of the summer’s most closely watched stories.
