Unai Emery Provides Injury Updates Ahead of Newcastle Clash

Ahead of Aston Villa’s upcoming Premier League match against Newcastle United, manager Unai Emery has provided updates on the team’s injury situation.

Defender Pau Torres is currently sidelined with a broken metatarsal in his foot. Emery has indicated that Torres will be out of action for approximately two months, which will see him miss several key fixtures in both the Premier League and European competitions.

Winger Leon Bailey is also unavailable due to a hamstring strain sustained during Villa’s recent victory over Southampton. While the injury is not deemed severe, Bailey is expected to be out for at least one to three weeks.

Additionally, midfielder Ross Barkley is recovering from a calf injury and is anticipated to return to training in two to three weeks. Captain John McGinn remains out with a hamstring injury, with no specific timeline provided for his return.

On a positive note, forward Jhon Duran is set to return from suspension after serving a three-match ban following a red card received during the Boxing Day defeat to Newcastle.

Despite these challenges, Aston Villa will look to maintain their strong form as they continue their pursuit of a top-five finish and potential Champions League qualification.
